Solving The Dilemma of Developing A Sticky Blog

By Stacy Kenith

Your main goal when promoting a blog is to make people have trust and appreciate the information you supply to them. No matter what you do that you think is great, it is your readers who have the deciding vote. What you want to create is the sticky blog, and that is a coveted prize in the blogging world. There are no two ways to do this because if your blog isn't sticky then it's simply failing to make an impact. Here are some excellent items you can implement on your blog to help you with being sticky.

People make comments on blogs for various reasons, it could be for getting noticed, for interacting with other readers or just to get to know the blogger. Engage your audience, and you want to do that anyway; so talk to them through the give and take process in the comments. So when it comes to increasing the interactivity of your blog, make sure you're responding to comments on a consistent basis. Do not get anxious if you have little traffic and few comments, and they are all worth saying something on your part.

Posing questions at the end of posts plus in the comments will get somebody to respond which is highly desirable. You can pick and choose what you like, but we highly recommend you talk to your readers. In the end, it all comes down to what you want to achieve and how serious you are about getting there. It is always a good rule of thumb to post new content every day if possible. Think about the scenario when a blog is update only one time in seven days, and that will be a blog that does not last all that long. If you deluge your blog and readers with content, then that will create a favorable impression. There are thousands of topical ideas in any niche, and you just need to learn how to spot them. Remember that people will get used to your updates, so be sure to do something you know you can uphold.

If you get a rush of traffic to one of your posts, make the most out of it. Exactly which sites you choose is up to you, and you can do well with sites such as Reddit and even Digg. You do not have to use those two sites or even social media, but you will be walking away from good traffic. Forget about using blackhat techniques or shortcuts because the days when they worked have been over for a long time. If you want to go a step ahead, then write a follow up article to the post, and even though this step is not essential, it's totally worth it.

What you decide to use on your blog so it can become sticky in the first place has to be right for your blog. Take your time and be sure you learn solid information and methods or else you can end up wasting time. So much depends on the quality of your blog content, so be sure you do not overlook that part. One other thing has to do with creating a solid marketing plan because that will drive your efforts. Also understand that if your traffic numbers are not high, then it will take time to see the results of your efforts.
